I recently found this site and love it! During my 41 years with NCR I worked several years on Century 615-100 and 8200 computers. They were a challenge to me.
However, I spent more of my time hardware servicing the C395 and C400 electronic accounting machines. These were not considered "full fledged" computers, but used "computer logic circuitry" as per a sales brochure. The electronics were hard wired (no boards) and used adapted old style mechanics. Troubleshooting consisted of finding bad components, bad solder joints and worn mechanical parts. Also poor programming. An early-on power supply used to blow and take out a bunch of electronics with it. I really felt I earned my pay on these things.
I am wondering if any other readers had experience with this line and would like to comment. I hope this discussion is not outside the scope of this site.
Best to all.           Bernie Ondrey    NCR Northern NJ (USA)
