Hi Wolfgang,

this video adapter is a MCA (Microchannel) card. It was used in the 3430/3360 Servers/Workstations.
It's called the BAM BAM card and has the part-number 515-0000803.

Here is a picture of the 3430.

And here is a picture of the 3360.

Here you'll find the drivers.

And here a report from Computerwoche (German).

Best regards Wally.

Hi Wolfgang,
I have googled a bit and found out, that you have a NCR 3000 Server!
Now I'm not sure, if I have given you the right answers.
Because you probably know, that this video adapter was used in those servers/workstations.
Could you be a bit more specific, what info you are looking for?
(I don't have any manuals for those systems!)

On this link you'll find NCR 3000 Series Files.
http://ps-2.kev009.com:8081/ncr3xxx/

as it is a ATI Mach32 card, here are all drivers for that card.

Best regards Wally.

Hi Wally,

thank you for the fast reply.

Indeed, it looks like a microchannel adapter. And it looks like it would fit into a Auxiliary Video Extension slot. But it won't. Neither for the AVE slot of my own NCR class 3434 server, nor for the AVE slot of an IBM 8560. It seems as if the microchannel edge connector has been turned around.

(The upper graphic adapter has a standard AVE edge connector.)

I don't know what kind of graphic card that is (beside it is NCR brand) and alas I have no opportunity to figure it out.

Kind regards

Wolfgang

Hi Wolfgang,

I think the BAM BAM with the part-number 515-0000803 was only for the 3430.
Because I have seen that part-number as spare part for the 3430. But I'm not sure.

Best regards Wally.

Hi Wally,

that is an interesting hint. If this card is compatible to NCR 3360/AT&T 3430 server, then we are talking about the NCR Clarity II video adapter. And the very special edge connector fits into the local bus slot of that machine.

You solved the puzzle.

Kind regards

Wolfgang
